Serena Williams knows how to stay in the news. The retired legend invited CBS “Mornings” to her Florida farm where Gayle King asked if there was any plans for a return to pro tennis. The 23-time Grand Slam champion didn’t say never.
“It’s hard to say,” Serena said. “I would say no. For now, no. I’ve literally given my whole life to tennis, and it’s time for me to give my life to something else.”
Serena said her final loss to Ajla Tomljanovic remains a disappointment.
“I was actually not very happy at all, just because of the result. I was there to keep going and to keep winning. And it was more or less like I can’t believe I let that match go more than anything,” she said.
While Serena won’t be on court, she is on TV in the new Michelob Ultra “Caddyshack” TV ad currently running through the Super Bowl.

I honestly cannot imagine Serena would enjoy having to get match-fit – and then compete with all these younger kids who can also knock the cover off the ball. The AO women’s final is the perfect example of the pace depth she would need to confront.
