Motorola's Edge 50 Pro was initially announced at the beginning of this month in India, and then went global last week. It's an upper-midrange device powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, and it has a very interesting back design.

Now we can not just look at it, but actually go inside, thanks to YouTube channel PBKreviews, which has already performed a full video disassembly and reassembly of the Edge 50 Pro, embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

As usual, to start things off a heat gun or hairdryer is required to weaken the adhesive and take off the back plate, which in this case is in the very unique Moonlight Pearl colorway designed by the Italian house Mazzucchelli.

Following the removal of the back plate is the removal of a lot of screws, and then we get to the mainboard and the secondary board. There are large graphite films in many places to help dissipate heat. The main board contains the cameras, and we get to have a good look at them. On the other side there's the selfie camera and, again, a lot of graphite film, plus some copper tape and thermal paste covering the chipset.

The teardown process also allows us to take a look at various components like the ambient light sensor, the SIM reader board, the hardware port board with the USB-C port and mic (which is protected from accidental pinching with the SIM ejector tool), the bottom speaker, the vibrator motor, and the big copper vapor chamber.

In the end the Edge 50 Pro received a 5.5 out of 10 reparability score, which isn't very good - 10 would be most reparable, for what it's worth, so it's pretty far from that. The battery not having pull tabs for easy removal isn't great, and replacing the buttons on the side requires taking the screen off, which isn't ideal either.

The phone got a 1 out of 2 for organization and length of time for repairs, 0.5 out of 2 for how easy it is to replace the screen, also 0.5 out of 2 for ease of battery replacement, 1.5 out of 2 for the ease of replacing other parts like the USB-C port, and 2 out of 2 for how easy it is to find replacement parts.
