CANCUN, Mexico (Sept. 24) — David Haggerty from the U.S. was re-elected as president of the International Tennis Federation at the 2023 ITF Annual General Meeting in Cancun, Mexico on Sept. 24, receiving 73 percent of the votes. He will serve a four-year term from 2023-2027.
There were 436 votes cast giving a required majority of 219 votes. Haggerty received 318 votes.
Haggerty said: “I’d like to thank the ITF membership for placing their faith in me for a further term. Our long-term sustainable growth strategy, ITF 2024, has resulted in the ITF’s funding for tennis development nearly doubling in just a few years since its introduction.
“I very much look forward to working alongside our Executive and Board to review and refresh our strategy for this next phase. We will ensure we place the ITF’s competitions on a strong footing and continue to fuel investment in the global development of our game to deliver the ITF’s mission of tennis for future generations.”
The ITF also announced the results of the elections for the ITF Board of Directors. The following 14 candidates have been elected to the Board for the period 2023-2027:

28 candidates stood for election to the Board. The 14 elected Board members received the highest number of recorded votes by delegates in a secret ballot, while also meeting the geographical representation criteria specified in the ITF Constitution.
In alignment with the goals of Advantage All, the ITF’s programme for equality and inclusion, to increase the number of women represented at the highest levels of leadership, seven (7) women stood for Board election in 2023 compared to four (4) in 2019; two (2) women were elected.
The voting procedure for the Presidential and Board elections has been approved and overseen by the Election Panel (a sub-group of the independent Ethics Commission), with electronic voting procedures implemented for the first time and provided by Lumi Global (an expert provider of electronic voting systems for global corporations and international sporting organisations).
